Hi ,

My name is Christy Maver and I am reaching out to ACM leaders like you about a contest that you and other ACM student members might find interesting.

The XML Challenge is a worldwide contest, with prizes including laptops, iPods, playstations, and GPS devices (not to mention the chance to distinguish yourself as a leader in the field). IBM and The International DB2 Users Group are running this contest in over 30 countries.

I was hoping you would not only check out the contest yourself, but could help us spread the word within your student body. I've included some additional details below, and you can also find us on Facebook -- Search for XML Superstar. (And speaking of Facebook, you may also want to check out the DB2 on Campus group, which has links, networking opportunities, and events such as webinars with recruiting managers.)

If you have any questions, please e-mail us at christy at xmlchallenge.com, and thank you for your interest.

What are the criteria for entry? Does it cost anything?

It's absolutely free to participate. There is no purchase required to enter the contest or win prizes. In fact, you don't even need to be a current ACM members to participate, so tell all your friends about it. All you need is an internet connection and a computer and you're good to go!

Participants could also qualify for the XML Grand Master prize by inviting friends to participate and by rating videos or gadgets posted by other participants. In addition, there is a lot of honor at stake here. By winning, you are not only gaining a great talking point on your resume but also achieving greatness amongst your school.

Are there any critical dates I should know of?

The first 1000 entries to complete the introductory XML quiz (no prior knowledge required) successfully will be mailed a contest T-shirt. The video and gadget contests have winners every month. The Query Challenge can be taken once by each contestant once during the course of the contest. The two programming contests went live Dec 1st and will be open for entries through Feb 1st. Winners of the two programming contests will be announced soon after.

How can I help?
